Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Need Help Getting back on Track

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

I was banded 2 years today I and I feel like the biggest failure! I lost 50+ pounds in 4 months and then found out that my birth control did not work for me and that I was pregnant with my 3rd child. Prior to finding out I had gotten a fill and during the same appt they gave me 2 unfills and it was still tight within a week or so of that so when I found out I was pregnant I had the majority of what was left unfilled. Needless to say I gained a lot of weight during my pregnancy. As long as I stayed under what I started at before surgury I considered that a plus. Well here I am almost a year and 2 fills later (which is a whole other issue) and nothing has changed. My eating habits are horrible and I feel like I have no support what so ever. My husband gives me a hard time yet all he wants to do is eat out and not exactly at the best choices.

I am so frustrated I need help, I am going to have to do this on my own though, I feel like I have this tool that is supposed to help me and I have no means (insurance or money) to maintain it at the moment. I would like to lose the same 50 pounds by the end of December but don't even know where to start. I am about 245 give or take. I need to do this for myself but i just don't know how. After surgery I had insurance for my fills and I had a membership at the Y and was using it regularly. Now I have none of that. If anyone is willing to help me get back on track any support and advice would be great.

Thanks,

Frustrated Momma,

MommaBurks:confused:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
