It doesn't happen overnight hun. It's going to take time and lots of hard work. But stay strong and be positive. You will see the changes soon enough!

Also, you may not see a big change before you get your first fill. For me, that'll be in another 5 and a half weeks--6 weeks after surgery. That's when the pouch is formed and when you should feel some restriction.

Be patient and don't give up hope! It'll happen.

In a word, "YES!"

You are doing right but thinking wrong. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was your weight.

Just keep doing what you are doing and try and keep a positive attitude.

I suggest taking a few pictures now. They will come in handy in a month or so when you are having the same thoughts. Then you can take a couple of more pictures and compare them to the ones you take now. You will see a difference and it will help keep your attitude positive.

Good luck!

Bob

I think your expectations are a little high right now. You're a week out from surgery; your body is still healing. You aren't going to see drastic results for months possibly. It all depends on how much you lose. Some people say they see a difference once you've lost about 20lbs, but again it differs.

You will see the differences soon, so don't stress too much over them. Like others have said take a few pictures from different angles and in a month or two, take more and compare them. You'll see the changes and hopefully you'll feel them as well.

I agree that your expectations are very high right now, but I would also warn you to keep them in check for the long term as well. It may take several fills until you get optimal restriction and your weight loss takes off. It took me six months until I reached my sweet spot and really started to lose steadily, but it DID eventually pay off! Be patient!

Take a deep breath.................now breath slowly.....This band thing takes time and work ,nothing magical about it. Hopefully you are in for the long hall.....now relax

I agree with everyone else. Just sit back and relax for a minute. The biggest difference with the band versus bypass, etc., is that the band is a tool. It takes time. It won't be 30 lbs overnight. The weight didn't come on overnight (although trust me - sometimes I think it feels like it does) and it won't melt off that way, either. It takes a while.

I, like you, was discouraged at first, but now I'm five months out and pretty happy so far. Is it as much as others? No. But, it's an improvement and I can tell a difference in how my clothes fit, how good I feel, etc. It will happen for you. Just keep doing what your doing. Your body is healing and it's trying to figure out what's going on. One day it will. And then you'll look in the mirror and you won't recognize the body you're looking at.

Good luck - it will all work out. :scared2:

Is it as much as others? No.

Is it more than many? Yes.

GingerJane,

You have to look at that glass as half-full if you are going to compare to others. You are doing great!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
