Liquid Tylenol and Liquid Advil where do you buy it???

Recommended Posts

I was told I could take liquid Tylenol when I return to work in replacement of the prescribed Hyrdrocodone which makes me drowsy. I looked for it at Walmart, couldn't find it, I asked the pharmacist and she told me that there was no liquid Tylenol and that I have to use liquid children's Tylenol. I took it today and it didn't take away the pain. I took 400mg the same amount I would take if I were taking the pill form. I ended up taking the Hydrocodone.

Where did you guys find your liquid Tylenol and Advil?

I have no idea, I tried a few places like CVS and Target and I was told by the pharmacist that it was recalled.

Yes brand name liquid Tylenol was recalled and probably wont be back until at least Christmas time. You have to buy the generic versions... They have it at drugstores and big box stores around me.

By the way, I was told several times that band patients can not take advil post op since it thins the blood and contributes to ulcers in band patients. Tylenol is OK.

my local food shop - Hannaford's carries it. here's the site to check the recall if anyone's worried about it.

I'm hoping this pharmacist was referring to the recall instead of actually not knowing that Tylenol came in a liquid form for adults. Kind of scary considering I do shop at Walmart. Though when I know I'll need to ask a question I tend to go to other drug stores.

I had a hard time finding liquid adult acetaminophen, too--my pharmacist ordered it.

I was told NO Advil (or other NSAIDs) at all, post-banding, so check with your doctor about that before taking it.

I've seen the liquid adult tylenol in most drug stores and both supermarkets I go to... but it only comes in cherry flavor... ICK... didn't want to be gagging after surgery!!! I just went with the junior tylenol meltaways in grape... 6 of them is 960 mg which is fine for a 1000 mg dose.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
