losethemess 14 Posted August 23, 2010 (edited) How many days post-op were you able to drive??? I am having my LAP-BAND® placed this Thursday and am taking 2 days off from school will have to go back to school on Monday when were you allowed or able to drive again? Are you a Teacher? So am I. I think the driving restrictions are because of the pain medication your doctor prescribes. I was prescribed Hydrocodone which clearly states not to operate heavy machinery after taking it. I guess if you aren't taking any meds 2 days after surgery you should be ok to drive. The restriction is due to the pain medication Edited August 23, 2010 by losethemess
monkeymama 0 Posted August 23, 2010 I drove two days after as well.... I made sure that the pain meds had cleared my system and was just using liquid tylenol at that time

BeachBabe 0 Posted August 23, 2010 I had my surgery on the 19th (3 days ago) and I drove today. I did not take my pain meds today so when I came home I really was uncomfortable and could not wait to take them.
healthyhappyme2010 0 Posted August 23, 2010 (edited) The driving restriction is associated with your pain medication; if you're on pain medication you shouldn't drive. I drove the day after my procudure, I found it helpful to carry a towel in the car, I folded it and placed it over my belly...its to limit your discomfort of the seatbelt and driving over bumps. btrieger 21 Posted August 23, 2010 I went shopping about 18 hours out and then took the dogs to the dog park. As everyone else has stated; as long as you're not taking the pain meds, you'll be fine.
spoiltmom 44 Posted August 23, 2010 I didn't take any pain meds. I was out driving the very next day.
TracyNYC 4 Posted August 23, 2010 With the laprascopic (sp?) procedure the restriction is due to the meds. If you are opened up, I think it is bit longer depending on the healing/size of incision.
