6 weeks post op and trying to binge

Recommended Posts

ive been doing well off and on since surgery. mainly because i was scared to eat what i used to because i thought it would get stuck and make me sick. but as i got over that fear i started trying things again and now im back to eating what i ate before (minus soda, chewy candy and red meat).

yes, i stop eating sooner so i eat less. but im still eating frequently and i cant stop myself from indulging and im having a really hard time slowing myself down. im just getting more depressed. i dont know what to do.

i had my first fill on 8/11. i dont think its enough, but my next fill isnt until 9/8. im getting so frustrated because its 6 weeks in and im not seeing the results i thought i would even though im eating a lot less.

Hey Kelly......Know how you feel. Went through the same thing. I've had 3 fills and still can eat quite a bit. Not as much as before but more than I thought I would. I am going Tues. for another fill and hopefully this one will do the trick. My Dr. allows us to get a fill every 2 weeks as long as we meet 2 of the following criteria. We don't lose any weight, we are hungry between meals, or we are able to comfortably eat more than we should. I know that I am close because I can't eat some foods now that I could 2 weeks ago. Hang in there and ask your Dr if you could get a fill sooner. Best of luck.

It was three months before I finally had 7 CCs in my band, which gave me good restriction.

Until then, it was a terribly depressing time.

But keep hope! It's so much better now. And, strangely, this time does help you get used to eating less, even though it still feels like too much.

Now I make myself 1/2 a sandwich and can't finish it. Yikes!

Hang in there -- restriction is coming!

Do you count your calories? You should have a goal for calories a day and counting them will help motivate you to stick to your lifestyle change. You'd be surprised how much food you could eat and still stick to your calorie limit. Just a suggestion.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
