Help-feeling port all the time

Recommended Posts

I felt mine for a good two or three months after surgery. It takes some time, I think, for the scar tissue to form around it. Before, if I slept wrong, the pressure on it would make it hurt for a day or two. Now (5 months out) it seems to have settled in place, I can hardly feel it on the surface, and it never hurts anymore.

i just had my surgery on 2 dec. now that the scars are healing and a lot of the puffiness is gone, i do feel an occasional "pull" where my port is. it is not painful, nor is it uncomfortable, it is just an odd feeling like someone hung a ring on my belly (and they did).

i happened to be in my doc's office when i crossed my legs and felt the "pull". he told me it was normal and not to worry about it.

is it painful? if it is, you should see your doc immediately.

"Feeling" your port doesn't sound like a problem. However, if it bothers you, or if it's red, inflamed, itchy, warm, hot or infected then you've got a problem. Sometimes people are so uncomfy that they opt for a port replacement and the doc is usually happy to place the port somewhere less irritating.

But pulling, like a pulled stitch feeling??? That doesn't sound right. Call your doc, k?

I am two yrs out 12/23. The strange port feeling started just a few wks ago, like you guys said it was pressure/pulling, so I was worried.

I will be having flouro and a fill in the new yr, so hopefully the port is fine. Thanks everyone.

The only feeling I get is a little needle-like sting but it doesn't hurt. I figure it is just the feeling you get as your healing. And a little tenderness around it but no inflammation or unbearable pain.
