Ran 6.2 Miles in 1.5 Hours - Never Imagined I Could Do This

Recommended Posts

I posted last week that I did 5.4 miles. I was so close to finishing a 10k that I had to try it. I never in a million years thought I would say I could run 1.5 hours without stopping. I'm 66 lbs down. Like I said in an earlier post, I was getting winded going to bed, putting on my CPAP, and pulling the blankets over. I would have to sit up, until I could catch my breath. What a change! When I hear people say they hate running, and couldn't run around the block, I can see how we put glass ceilings on ourselves. I've done it my whole life. I can't wait to see what I change about my life next. I would say the sky is the limit, but it's not true. We can go beyond the sky if we dream it. Thank you lap band.

I love hearing this... CONgratuations!!! I am now 50 pounds down and beginning to run again... I'm only running 3 miles at a time though but am training for a duathalon in November. It's 2 mile run a 15 mile bike and a 2 mile run... Thanks for posting, this is very encouraging to me!!!

Wow that is awesome!!! I'd love to be able to run for more than a few minutes but something about running with my mouth wide open just doesn't work too well LOL. I need to work on the breathing properly too.

Either way, congrats. That is an awesome victory and you're right, there is no limit as to what we can do.

Thanks for all the kind words. It's encouraging to hear so many others have the same excitement to surpass their old exercise levels, and be healthier. I wish everyone the best. So glad to hear the goals you all have put into place, and the competitions you all are getting involved with. This is so much fun. Go get it.

That is awesome. Keep up the good work. Running is amazing. I am on week 8 of Couch to 5K. I never thought I could run either.

I ordered this picture after my first 5K. It just came in today, and I wanted to share it. It was the Donor Dash here in July. Wasn't expecting to run because I was leaving town. Then those plans changed, and I did it last minute. Thought I was going to die, but I did it without stopping. I was noticing there wasn't anyone behind me.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
