rstoun 0 Posted August 19, 2010 I am soooo frustrated - cannot figure this band out. I'm 3 months post-op & 2 weeks into my 3rd fill. 1st fill was 2.5 cc's, 2nd fill was 1.5 cc & last fill was 1 cc. I can either eat as much as I want of the things that aren't good for me (popcorn, crackers, ice cream, etc), or can only eat a few bites of the things that are good for me (meat, raw vegetables, fruit, etc). Not matter which I do, I never feel full. Of course, with the food that is good for me, it gets stuck after a few bites & I spend the next 2-3 hrs in misery I'm sure I had an unrealistic approach as to what the band would do, but I have no idea how to eat properly & not feel hungry. I did loose 10 lbs on the 10 day pre-surgery diet, 6 lbs in the 1st 7 days after surgery, but only 2 lbs since. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Murpel 0 Posted August 19, 2010 I would suggest going to your nutritionist if you have one, or your Dr.s office for guidance. They would be the best source of information for you right now.
ldswims 0 Posted August 19, 2010 (edited) You are totally describing me, save I'm a month farther along. I have had three fills plus the fill at the time of surgery. And the third fill was way too much. I started eating around the band because it was the only way I could eat, I was too tight to eat Protein or even many veggies. I just went in on Tues of this week for an unfill as I started getting crazy heartburn - something I've never had a day in my life. The RNP took out 0.2cc's leaving me at 4.2cc's. And now I can eat again. I can eat Protein, I can eat veggies, I can eat the right stuff and instantly, my interest in the sliders has vanished. I actually think they could take out another .1 or .2 and I'd be better but I'm going to see how this goes just awhile longer. But I hope this helps...sounds like you might actually be too tight. I was. Same exact scenario! Oh, and all fills (and unfill) are done under fluoroscopy for me. So while it all looked ok under x-ray, it sure didn't feel ok in reality! The Protein keeps you satisfied longer. You should be able to go 4 hr. between meals. You need to figure out if you are physically hungry{stomach growling} or "head hungry". You might need a slight unfill to tolerate proper food intake instead of the "slider foods"
rstoun 0 Posted August 22, 2010 (edited) TO IDSWIMS - Thank you sooo much for your help - just one question. This may sound crazy, but its something I figured out the other day. Maybe my band isn't tight enough???? The reason I'm saying that is, if I eat very, very slow & with very, very small bites, I'm ok. Its when I start eating too fast & too big of bites that I have trouble - but thats because I'm hungry. So, maybe with the next fill, I will be feeling the fullness, before I eat too much??? Thanks Edited August 22, 2010 by rstoun
