Fever and Fluid in Lungs

Recommended Posts

So I went to see the surgeon Monday because I have been running a low grade temp since friday. Surgery was 8 days ago. I also have Fluid in my lungs- I can hear it when I take deep breaths. I saw him and he said everything looked good and that I shouldnt worry about the fever or fluid.. Ummm...yeah... Not sure that is the right thing to do. Tuesday I had my first full day back at work. I was hurting so bad when I got home. I do not think a full day of work is wise. Im not sure if I should be worried or not. Anyone else have problems with fevers or fluid in their lungs?

I would call your PCP (primary care physcian) and get in to be seen. Low grade fever means infection... if you say you have Fluid in your lungs, that left unattended could lead to a small pneumonia. I found going back to work at one week too hard, and ended up getting sick myself. Take it easy. this is a life changing surgery, simple as it is, but we need to listen to our bodies! Call your doctor and please be evaluated!!! Best of luck!

My body temperature seems to have changed since surgery and when I take my temp its always in the 99's. But if you think you have Fluid in your lungs then definitely go to your PCP and have it checked out. You dont want to end up with pneumonia.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
