Self Sabatoge!

Recommended Posts

I do not know what has gotten in to me! I did so well right after surgery, right up to the point of eating real food again. I did not have ant have any restriction and wound up bingeing alot! So I thought I will stop that so I got my first fill and ever sice then it has been a battle. I did the 2 days of liquids and then 2 days of mushies...but in those 2 days of mushies I had cheesecake and icecream..alot of it. When I have tried to go back to solid food I have had no luck I have thrown up and now my band has gotten swollen, so now mushies are not really even doing well. What is my stupied answer? Milk shakes to the rescue....NOT GOOD! I was at 228 after surgery I am now at 238 and very mad at myself for the poor choices I have been making!!!! I do not even want to call the Dr about my fill possibly being to tight because I want it tight to get this 10 pounds off i have put back on my self! Can anyone else relate to this self sabatoge?

Throw out the ice cream for starts. Get yourself some broth, Jello, popcicles etc. and try that for a few days, at least 48 hours to heal up. Then move to mushies, but that doesn't mean ice cream again. Try some refried Beans, cottage cheese, pudding, then move on to solids. If after you have tried this and you still can't eat then by all means call your doctor. Just going on the liquids for 48 hours could solve your problem because you are probably swollen. Make sure to drink your Water too.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Stay on liquids... If you are at the point like Betty says that you are to tight call your Doc. Do not jeapordize yourself

Try to go back to the feelings of how you felt about yourself when you decided to do the surgery. Remember how you felt? Remember WHY it was so important to you to get it done, either for better health or for better self-esteem, or what? That always helps me to think of how I felt before my surgery to help me in keeping me on track. We all mess up from time to time, just get back up on the wagon and go on. Most of all FORGIVE yourself and don't beat yourself up too much, so you gained a few pounds? You know what to do now to fix that and the band is there to help you now. Losing weight is like driving a car.....you have to look forward because you can't drive forward looking in the rearview mirror So stop looking back at what you have done wrong and look forward to what you can do to help yourself get back on track. Pray hard and stay on these boards, the folks here are great and so very supportive.

God bless and good luck!

EVERY BODY DOE'S IT! NOW IT TIME TO ( THINK ) ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE STICKING IN YOUR FACE! IS IT HEALTHY?

do I really need it?........ what can I do to stop this! you can do it, you did the hardest thing getting banded now let the band work for you! Drink more liquid's and if your going to eat Ice cream let it be fat free close to it. there is Ice cream at Walmart 98% fat free 180 calorie's eat that.

I drink more liquids when I start feeling hungery it really work's. Good luck and don't be to hard on your self!

The good thing about the band is that it is always there. Its never too late to start, even if you havent gotten off to the best beginning.

As you do, I've thought about how to handle those sorts of situations, and I hope I dont sound trite because I havent gotten there yet and I am just as likely to scrap my plans and give into temptation. But I figure if I eat the things I should eat first, then I can see how much room I've got for the other stuff. It will just take willpower to fill up first on the proper choice (which I may not really want) to prevent me being able to drink the milkshake, eat the ice cream or whatever - ie. tell yourself you can have it but only after.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
