Congratulations, Amy! Thanks for taking the time to write your story. Your stats are pretty similar to mine, I only wish I had lost this weight when I was 30 like you. I love your attitude, especially the dance team and cheerleading. I would have never been able to put myself out there like that. You've got guts and I'm sure you will make the most of your weight loss.

Cindy

What a great post! You've lost ...well, just about exactly the amount I saw on the scale when I stepped on it this morning. You've lost ME--an overweight adult woman with a BMI of 29.1.

AWESOME!

What a great story and so inspirational. I'm doing the three month diet/exercise/seeing multiple doctors before submitting to insurance. I especially appreciated your stories about dancing. I took dance lessons from 1st grade through 5th, but after my 5th grade recital, my parents heard some remarks about "the fat girl" on stage, so they pulled me out of dancing--one of the things I felt good about. Years later, I took Irish step dancing in my 30's and even participated and won medals in some competitions, despite being 220 pounds! And I would perform at Irish festivals. If people didn't like my weight, well too friggin bad! Thanks for your story.

That is amazing! You are such an inspiration. I am still in the early stages of getting my paperwork in for insurance approval. I just need to attend a doctor's talk and I will be able to submit to insurance. I needed this story.. Thank you so much!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
