Today's The Day!! Getting Banded!

Recommended Posts

Today is the day I start my new journey on a new life. I would like to ask for those who believe to pray for me while I go in today for surgery. This is my first surgery in my life, never spent the night in a hospital. I'm a nervous wreck.

Hey everyone! Just an update I just got home from the hospital. Quick overview

Arrived at 8:30am went to Second floor which was day surgery.

@10:00 they came and it was time to be banded.

@2:00 I woke up in Recovery in extremely bad pain. It was the pressure build up in the stomach area. Nurse gave me a couple of does of something. Pain went away.

I stayed awake basically the rest of the day in the hospital bed watching tv and talking to my visitors. The access port cut and the pressure are the only two things that hurt. Couldn't sleep all night which sucked. They gave me chicken broth, jello, juice for dinner and Breakfast which I barley touched.

Hey RyanZ, sounds like you are doing great. I was banded on August 13th and stayed overnight in the hospital. I felt great while I was in the hospital and couldnt believe how good I felt, but...........the next 2 days were terrible!!! I wasn't expecting it. I am feeling much better today think goodness. It was mostly from the gas I think. I am still really sore and tired but feel soooooo much better today. Good luck!!! nancy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
