Was anyone else aware of this?

Before I got surgery I thought that if U needed adj. and not losing at least 1 to 1 1/2# a week then U needed and adj.

For 3 weeks I average 1 1/3# weekly and after 2 months only 4#.

I had a followup visit and the nurse said that as long as I'm losing weight they do not schedule adj. That there is a lot that plays into it

proper eating, exercise, restriction etc.

Has anyone else been told this. Everyone that I personally know say they just call and get an appt. for adj. If I get another it will be my 4th.

Has anyone heard or read literature before banding that as long as U are

losing weight monthly (not the ususal 1 to 1 1/2# weekly) and still feeling some restriction they do not do another adj.? I was under the impression that if U were following the guidlines and were NOT losing at least 1# weekly - then an adj. would be scheduled.

I was not aware of this before surgery and I have not read it anywhere?

Did I miss reading this somewhere and/or is this the case?

my doctor takes it as a case by case thing. When you ask for a adj. She will ask the typical questions 'what are you eating? How much? etc. If those answers jive with whatever she is looking to hear, then she will do the adj. But it certainly isn't a "just call and make an appointment" type of thing.

My band doc will not give you a fill unless you are exercising 5 days per week, eating properly, and have not lost any weight in at least a month's time.

She was very upfront with me about this before surgery, and the rules are still the same.

My information states that you need a fill when you haven't lost any weight in 4-6 weeks.

Hi,

Your nurses "protocol" is ridiculous and ludicrous. All of us here can lose weight with or without the band. If you are struggling and hungry all the time and still losing weight because of extreme dieting even though you are banded, then you are not getting maximum use of your tool. You should be able to get a fill if you are hungry between meals and not feeling satisfied. THe lapband is not about suffering. It is about feeling satisfied with smaller portions. You still have to make wise choices, but this is very hard to do if you are hungry. Your nurse should be asking extensive questions like:

Are you getting hungry between meals? (3-4 hours)

Are you exercising?

How much are you able to eat at a meal before you get full?

Are you drinking with your meals?

Are you waiting at least an hour after meals before you are drinking?

Are you eating solid Protein 3-4 oz ? How do you feel after you eat 3-4 oz of meat? Are you satisfied? (True solid Protein is the only way to gauge restriction or lack of..... )

Basically your nurse rationing fills without any valid protocol. I hate when offices do this......

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
