Pre-op Diet/ Positive post!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello ,

Just wanted everyone to see a positive post !!!

For all you starting or needing to do a pre-op diet , i for one , highly reccomend it!!! I did not have to per my DR. but chose to. I did the Isopure dutch chocolate shakes for Breakfast and lunch , snacked twice a day on low cal mozz sticks(1 per snack). dinner was a piece of chicken and salad or veggie. I was not Hungry at all surprisingly. I did do the two scoops of isopure and 12 0z of Water . Everyone in my Dental office jumped on the band wagon with me and my friend lost 3 lbs her first few days. People were just as amazed as i was. It took me 4 months at Jenny craig to lose easily what i did in just over two weeks!!!!!!!!!! Go for it! it is well worth it and prepares you for the smaller portions.

17.3 lbs for me in 2 weeks 3 days!!!:cursing:

~Jennifer~

P.s my surgery is Tommarow!

Hey there! I did a similar weight loss program to lose the 5% insurance required weight before they would approve. I ate a TON of vegetables ( I made Soup with them), I would have an occassional Protein shake and a little lean Protein. And of course, lots of Water. I lost 12 pounds in two weeks. I also exercised quite a bit...a lot of walking and swimming. I didn't feel hungry either.

I am getting banded tomorrow too! I am scheduled for 10:00 AM and I believe the doctor is keeping me overnight because of my sleep apnea. I will be anxious to come home and talk to you to see how you did.

I have a feeling I will be up all night. So if you feel like chatting, I will probably be online.

My thoughts are with you. I am happy for us!

Good Luck to all you being banded tomorrow! I am on a 12 day pre-op diet... Mine is all Clear Liquids, it has been really tough. I am a huge afterschool snacker, but as long as I am busy, I don't have much of a problem.. I wish my doctor would of given me a certain amount of weight he wanted me to lose... cheese sticks and light veggies, would be great right now... I am getting really tired of Protein Shakes, I only really like the chocolate, and its getting boring.. chicken Soup broth is really good! Havent started much of an exercise program Day 5 is almost over and I get banded in 7 more days

I started my liquid diet yesterday it has been horrible. I fell of the wagon today! But I will definitely get back on! Hopefully it doesn't affect my surgery on Aug. 25th.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
