Did any of you guys suffer from Gynecomastia(Man Boobs) prior to being banded?

I'm curious to find out if they dissapear as you lose weight?

You probably don't have Gynecomastia in the first place. You would need to have actual breast tissue beneath the nipple, not just fat. Therefore, if you burn fat/build muscle it will go away (unless you actually do have gynecomastia)

Gynecomastia is caused due to two reason one is deposition of fat and the second is excess of glandular tissues. If the case is first one i.e. deposition of fat than there is high probability that you might loose weight with exercise which causes overall burning of fat in body. But in case of glandular tissues there is a need to undergo plastic surgery which is also applicable in first case as well.

According to my surgeon. Whether or not the moobs reduce to normal male proportions is dependent on many factors overall musculature, size and length of time the moobs have been around, your age and basic elasticity of the overlying skin. Significant reduction is atainable but based on the above factors some residual tissue may remain. Depending on how much of this tissue remains, cosmetic surgery may be indicated. That decision, of course, would strictly be a personal choice. I'm personally hoping exercise does the trick in firming up the moobs but being over sixty, well who knows :P

I will say it's interesting to see where fat accumulates on different people. I've seen people with basically my same body type, height weight, etc. that have absolutely no moobs whatsoever, I've seen some that for some reason look like they weigh 100 pounds more than me but often don't. And the most common with me is that no one thinks I weigh what I do/did. Even at my heaviest people were always about 50-75#'s off what I really weighed. I like to think a lot of that had to do with me being very active usually, playing every sport I could since I was 4 years old, and still being able to get around with little to no problem. But I do definitely get a bit jealous when I see people that are close to the same size or even bigger with no moobs, or very small moobs, mostly because it's always been the #1 thing to have people make fun of. I'm down around 80#'s so far and they've gotten smaller but not as small as I hoped especially since I'm over halfway to my goal weight, I think I wanted them down even more. It has taken the wind out of my sails a bit. Oh well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
