I got a fill 2 weeks ago. Didn't notice too much of a difference until this past Thursday - wasn't able to eat much that day, but the band is fickle, so tossed it up to that. On Friday morning, the dh and I flew up to Sydney for work. I was rushing around all morning getting ready and didn't have time to eat. That's fine, I don't generally eat much in the morning anyway. So we get to Sydney and we're standing in the taxi rank waiting, when I start feeling a bit nauseous. I had taken my birth control and sometimes it has that effect. I turned to my hubby and said, I think I need to go to the restroom. That's the last thing I remember. Next thing I know I'm laying on the ground (in my new suit lol), with a dozen people surrounding me asking if I'm okay.

After a bit of orange juice I was able to function again, but I felt off all weekend. The restriction gradually increased over the weekend to where now, I'm only able to get down small sips of Water and sometimes not even that. I've got an appointment to have an unfill today. Even with a weekend of not eating hardly anything, I didn't lose any weight since I left last Friday (dammit lol).

I've got an appointment with my GP tomorrow to test my blood sugar and such, as I've got a feeling that's what it is. But would this be caused by the band and the changes in my eating habits?

My daughter gets low blood sugar. Maybe you can carry one of those little tubes of glucose with you in your purse.I hope everything is ok.

Why it would happen to you now I dont know, unless you're eating a lot less after the last fill. I've had a similar experience in the last few weeks, 3 days on Optifast and I was having trouble staying conscious, I fainted in public twice.

I guess when you're active and running around, you actually do need energy to function. 3 piddly shakes a day is not enough for me, its not a matter of willpower, I plain cant function on that amount of energy. Are you sure you're eating enough? Regularly enough?

Last time I fainted was about 15 years ago right before I got married, and yes, I'd been dieting like a fiend for months and lost a lot of weight. We do it for our long term health but its very stressful on the body.

Ok everyone is concerned and sending you are best so that seems under control. Now for the big question, was your new suit OK? :)

Been there, done that. Only in my case it was when I was standing in line to board a SWA flight. LOL It was the only time I ever fainted - except for the time I gave blood and passed out in the parking lot after. bwahahaha

It never hurts to ask your doctor, but I don't think it's anything to worry about if it only happened once. If it starts to happen several times a month or you start feeling dizzy, then you really should be concerned.

LOL .. nope not preggers and thankfully, the suit was fine. Will have to be dry cleaned due to a cut on my knee, but that'll be okay heh.

I had 0.2ml of fill removed yesterday, so on that side of things, I'm feeling much better. My doctor and I agreed that while that would leave me with the ability to eat more than I'd like (before that 0.2ml was added previously, I felt almost wide open), its better than being overseas and too restricted. After hearing some horror stories of doctors, I'd much rather leave all my band-care to the one I trust if possible. If I put on a kilo or five while on holidays, so be it. When I get back I'll have a fill and try to get it back off (of course, I'd whinge like mad about it though LOL).

I saw my GP this morning. She reckons it was a combination of low blood pressure and low blood sugar that brought on the fainting. My blood pressure has always been on the low side, but it was lower than usual today - 90/50 sitting, 82/44 standing. She says this is due to the weight loss but if I start feeling dizzy when standing and such, we probably need to evaluate it again. She's also doing blood test for blood glucose, cholesterol, Iron levels, liver function (she said this one is actually really important after banding or bypass) and umm, something else that I can't remember lol. I should have the results of this series tomorrow around lunchtime. She wasn't too worried about it all but told me of course, to keep something to snack on in my bag at all times, just in case.

On a side note (and I meant to include this yesterday), my wonderful hubby was so sweet all weekend. We were in business meetings the whole time, but he kept checking on me, worrying himself silly every time I so much as got up to go to the restroom. He really is great. At the end of the trip, on Monday afternoon, we had a few free hours til our flight, so we walked around the city. Found ourselves at Tiffany's. Walked out with two lil blue boxes *g* (my first ones ever). I think mostly, it was because he felt bad for me not being able to eat at all the nice restaurants we went to lol.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
