Are any of you cold a lot??

Recommended Posts

Right before I started the pre op diet my PCP lowered my thyroid meds a bit. For the last 3 weeks I've been freezing. Normally I keep the a/c on 78 and I wear shorts around the house and still sweat.

Now I'm freezing a lot of the time and I'm fine in pants instead of shorts. I think my thyroid meds may have been lowered too much but a banded friend of mine said it's b/c of my weight loss. She said she was cold at first too.

So what do you guys think? I've only lost 18 pounds surely that's not enough to freeze me right?

I see my PCP again on Tuesday for more bloodwork.

I'm so cold that I think my wood fire blows out cold air.

I am always freezing and i have maintained my weight that I lost for the last 5 months. I don't know if I will ever be warm again. Even in the summer with +31 degrees c weather I am wrapped up in many layers and sweaters at work.

Being cold a lot is common after weight loss I have found ( past experience)

after surgery i was freezing which was a switch for me cuz i always considered myself hot natured.

after 60+ lbs lost i find myself a lot more temperature regulated.

i still get chilled at temps that used to be hot and i find i can handle the heat a lot better than before.

no idea why, but that's my story.

It could be thyroid-related--it'd be worth a call to the doc to see if s/he wants to run a thyroid panel.

BUT, yes--I'm always freezing now, except when I'm exercising outdoors. And even then, my heat tolerance is way higher than it used to be.

Indoors, I always have a sweatshirt and heavy socks on. And my thyroid function is normal.

Well I'm not really complaining. I'd much rather be cool or cold than hot. I'm a stay at home mom and dh works 12 hours a day. For the past few years I spend all day lowering the thermostat constantly to make the A/C kick on again. Now maybe my light bill will go down some also.

For those of you complaining of feeling cold, go get your thyroid checked. Feeling cold is a symptom of hypothyroid.

I too like all of the cold people here are always cold. We get temperatures up in the 120 here in Arizona and people think I am crazy because I am comfortable! As far as testing my thyroid, my Dr. checked that out and said everything is normal, he too agrees it is the weight loss. I don't know if I will ever be warm again and winter is just around the corner. On the other hand, I would not change a single thing about having the band and losing 90 pds. Any suggestions on this other than the obvious of the thyroid test, would be a great help to all of us coldies.

Yep I'm always cold. I still am, and I've maintained for over 18 months. In fact I recently went to Singapore and everyone was complaining about how hot it was, and I thought it was fine! I didn't even break a sweat most days!

I have had my thyroid checked so I know that's not it. I figure I just don't have almost 100lbs of insulation anymore to keep me warm!

I'm much colder than I have ever been but I just assumed that it was due to weight loss. I have hypothyroidism and haven't had blood work in awhile to see if the synthroid is doing what it should be, so I'm planning to do that over the holidays. I'm not complaining though - I love not being hot all the time.

Yes, I am a popsicle. I used to be happy with my office thermostat at 68. Now I am freezing with it at 74. My office mate was happy at 68, so we have compromised. We set it at 71 and I bundle up and have a radiant heat foot rest.

I had radio-iodine treatment on my thyroid long before my surgery. My levoxyl dosage was stable. My endocrinologist recently bumped up my dosage even though my levels were within normal range hoping to help me feel warmer. It has helped somewhat, but he suspects the weight loss is the culprit not my thyroid.

I too have noticed with my 80 lb weight loss that I ahve been more cold. I just tell people that I don't have the excess fat to keep me warm. LOL

Every time I've lost weight I have been cold. Less insulation=colder body!

I sincerely hope I don't get any colder after weight loss. I freeze now, as it is!

Because I can layer and layer and still freeze, I've had my thyroid tested many times over the years and they always tell me everything seems normal. My poor husband disagrees. He tells me all the time it isn't "normal" that my hands and feet feel like ice blocks.

I just can't imagine being any colder than I am now.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
