Couch to 5K ?

Recommended Posts

Hello All! I started the c25K program last week at the request of my personal trainer! I'm on W2D1. Doing good. I sweat like crazy but feel like I'm actually getting a good workout. Good luck everybody. It's good to find a thread related to this. We can keep each other motivated!

I just got done with w2d3. Im so excited. THat first day I thought to my self, "oh no Im not going to be able to do this" BUT i kept pushing myself. So today was easier then the last. Monday I start week 3. What really felt good is that a girl that works at the gym (in Daycare) asked me how I could do it and that I looked good running....lol. That was funny to me ive never been told I looked good running. I do know it sure feels good. Best to luck everyone!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so happy this caught on so well! I did this last year and even though my joints fought me at first, they can take much more of a beating now! haha. I think I'll do the couch to 10k next.

So glad this is here... I'm not sure what motivated me, but I've lost 3 lbs in the last 3 months and have sort of been at a stand still, so I rejoined Weight Watchers again today (helped me lose the first 80 lbs with the band) and just finished w1d1 of the couch to 5k. I tried this 40 lbs ago and could not do it at all. Totally shocked that I actually did it... but now lets see if I have enough motivation to do it on Friday...

I didn't try the couch to 5k program but I did start walking 30 minutes day 1 post surgery and increased that to an hour by week 6 post surgery. Now 3 months post surgery I jog 5-6 miles 5-6 days a week. It's amazing how our bodies who were once trained athletes have such awesome muscle memory.

You're well on your way...I'm going to try the couch to marathon program next year. Anyone up for the challenge?

I am thinking about starting this next week as my daughter is starting "Girls on the Run" and she will run a 5K in November and her program seems very similar to the Couch to 5K. She's still in Elementary school so I thought it might be cool if her mom could run the 5K with her.

My only question is - how are you keeping track of the time while running? Is it a stop watch or what?

There's an actual Couch to 5K podcast you can download for free on ITunes. Good music, and he tells you exactly when to start running, and when to start!

I'm trying to get my mind wrapped around doing W1D2 tomorrow. I'm really nervous, and I'm not sure why....

I will be starting this on Monday, September 13th. Does anyone run with their iPhone? I am trying to find a holder for mine. I have downloaded the application and think it will help me out to start this. I love the high I get from spinning so I hope running will give me the same high. I need to mix up my cardio.

Thanks!

Well, I finished W1D2, and I can't lie, I'm already sore... But I did make it through the workout... I think I'll be repeating week 1 for one more week though!

I use my iphone and haven't purchase a holder. I put my headphones under my shirt and stick the phone in my pocket. You don't need to do anything with your phone during the run once you get started.

I finished W1D2 today. Was much better than last time. Still need to work on my breathing.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
