kimberleec 0 Posted August 14, 2010 Hello everyone: I am new to posting however I have been stalking this board for a few years now trying to make a decision on whether to Lap Band or not to Lap Band. I decided it was for sure for me and made the appointment today and also had sort of a Pre-pre approval on insurance. I have all the documentation needed for insurance and meet and have met all the requirements necessary and have the coverage available. My appointment will be on September 1 and will be pretty much the entire day. I have a seminar, psych evaluation, meet with the surgeon, dietician and do all the insurance paper work. Since I am traveling over and 2 hours one way to get there theys staff was trying to squeeze in as much as they could in one day. I am so excited and hope that the insurance company does not drag their feet to long with the approval. I have never had any experience awaiting insurance approval so I gues this is a wait and see experience. I welcome any thoughts or words of wisdom from anyone. Thanks for giving me a place to rejoice with people who I know undertand. ~Kim
conservachick 0 Posted August 14, 2010 Kim - First of all - congratulations!! I hope it all works out for you! The only advice I can think of right now is that if you are still drinking sodas and caffein, you should stop... taper it off... so it's not too much of a withdrawl.. but stop soon! You won't be able to have any of that, and I found that quitting those things BEFORE I began my liquid diet helped it to be easier... instead of stopping food (due to liquid diet) AND soda, AND caffein.. you know what I mean? Anyway.. just a thought... Also, give yourself a break... along your journey you WILL make some mistakes.. you WILL eat something you shouldn't, and you WILL eat mroe than you should... and guess what!!!??? It's ok... just know that the lap band is a tool, not a solution.. dont make the mistake some make by thinking that once the lapband is placed inside of you, you will automatically 'think' skinny... you won't! I still have to fight my 'fat person' demons... it's a process... Good luck.. I'm sure you'll be great! HUGS:wink2:
kimberleec 0 Posted August 14, 2010 First of all thanks for the encouraging words and secondly thanks for the diet on the sodas etc. I had already read that information in some of my reasearch and knew it would be a good idea post-op but didnt realize i would need to do it pre-op. So very glad you told me! I am going to try to do as you suggested I too believe it will be easier to quit a things one at a time instead of all at once. Thanks Again! mom05 0 Posted August 14, 2010 Yes good luck Kim... I got approved today it didn't take long because I was so worred... I too just became a memeber but have been reading what others say about the procedure and finally decided that I had to do it. I agree with conservachick... stop drinking soda and coffee-- gradually. I was a big diet soda and coffee drinker. I switched to crystal light... I must tell you, I felt I needed that coffee and soda but after about 2 wks I was ok.. better before the surgery then after.. Good Luck... and you'll be fine I too was nervous about my appt..
