pigletmik 0 Posted August 13, 2010 I got the wonderful band at the end of March, and have lost close to 40 pounds! My question is, when you lose a bunch a weight does it screw with your period? I have always been right on, but the last couple months I've notice I start a few days later than I normally would! Well this month I am over a week late! I don't think I'm prego, cause I had my tubes tide with after my last child 5 years ago! I just want to make sure this is what is going on! Please, any thoughts are welcome!!!!!! spoiltmom 44 Posted August 14, 2010 My doctor says it can. I've never noticed a difference no matter what I weigh though. I lost 45 pounds and made my worse instead of better.
MollyRN 28 Posted August 14, 2010 Estrogen is stored in fat cells - so if you are burning fat, you will see an increase in estrogen which is similar to taking a low dose birth control pill - not enough to keep someone from getting pregnant, but enough to mess with your cycle. reverie 49 Posted August 14, 2010 I think it definitely does! Mine was really off before I lost weight, now it's seemed to regulate itself more. It also doesn't last for the full 5-7 days anymore.
BetsyB 9 Posted August 14, 2010 Yes, body fat is mildly estrogenic, and as we lose weight, our serum estrogen levels rise---which can mix our bodies up, cycle-wise
