What did you wear surgery day?

All of the "jewelry looking" bracelets have a medical alert charm. It would defeat the purpose of wearing a medical alert Bracelet if first responders thought it was jewelry. It all comes down to preference, to each his own. I would invite everyone to take a look at the bracelets and necklaces from Lauren's Hope. There are a lot of different styles, and lots of room for engraving medical information!

I totally agree that it would defeat the purpose. I thought my watch was very clear. It has the medical symbol with "See Other Side" on it. Only to be told by a first responder they they'd not spot it, nor remove it to see what it says. He said they are looking quickly for something very distinct, and that they'd miss a watch and perhaps more jewelry like items. So, I was wasted money. Thus my word of caution.

I did not mean it to sound like a slam on a beaded bracelet with a large charm, sorry if it did.

Lauren's Hope has very beautiful bracelets, most with large charms!

I had worn in a strechy cotton Capris and a very large cotton t shirt with a front clasp bra. Due to where my incisions are I decided not to wear the bra. I had no problem putting on socks sat on the hosiptal bed and pulled my leg up. I wore sneckers that I could slide on. My shirt was pretty big. Advise I read here included to bring a pillow (I used one from my couch) to put between you and the seat belt. I do think that helped.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
