Ate too much! Please read and support.

Recommended Posts

So I f'ed up today. I hate to be Debbie the Downer, but I need to get this off my chest. I OVER ate today, just like I did pre band when things bothered me. Yes, it was less than my old binges but the reality that I did it, sucks! It really just feels better to fess up instead of feeling ashamed like in my past.

thanks for reading,

Rebecca

Everyone will have days of not being perfect. It's not about how you overate today but what you will do about it tomorrow. It's a new day.

So don't stress over it, because the more upset you make yourself the more likely you are to continue to over eat. Pick yourself up, jump up, and remember that changes happen gradually.

I'm glad you're feeling better today. All you can do is dust yourself off and get back on the horse. If you can, try to think up different ways of coping so that you don't find yourself in the same place again---it takes practice, but overeating IS something you will conquer.

(As you get closer to restriction, the band will really help you extinguish this kind of behavior, too :))

i did the overeating thing very shortly after surgery -- i managed to find 'bad' fods that would go down and stay down. the good news is that i haven't done it in a while and i am so happy with my weight loss and more importantaly how much better i feel, that the need to binge hasn't surfaced again. right now i'm kind of in bandster hell, but i am just taking it one day at a time and concentrating on how loose my clothes are getting and that helps me get through the bad days. good luck!!!

Because if you don't, you pay for it!!

It hurts!

I speak from experience and too much of it. :)

Unfortunately, they don't band our brains when our stomachs get banded. I wish they could!

Best thing is you are facing it head on. Not hiding from it. Yay for you!

I think we all have food issues that we have to deal with post-banding. The band helps us with that as we reach restriction, as Besty said. As our physical hunger gets under control, we are better able to deal with the other appetites that we have for food.< /p>

And the good news? You can get right back on track with your next meal! Go back to your banded rules and eat right. If you slip, we are here.

This is a journey and a marathon. Weight loss and maintenance does not happen in one day and does not fall apart with one binge, and it starts by going back to basics.

The Lapband is a daily learning process. It's a lifestyle change. If it was a miracle cure that also took our bad habits away with it, then the medical industry would be a very wealthy industry.

Take each day one day at a time. Everyone falls off the wagon once and awhile. We are only human and contrary what some may feel, no one is perfect. This is how we learn. Just like riding a bike, stand up, dust yourself off and get back on that bike again.

I think EVERYONE deserves a hand that goes through with this process. You all work very hard.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
