today is day 10 of my low carb/high Protein pre-op diet and it was HELL... all i wanted to do was eat and sleep. needless to say i lost the battle over food and had a whole blueberry bagle....i feel like such a loser if i cant even stick with a fairly easy pre-op diet what makes me think i will be able to do the full on lap band diet? i am so mad at my self because i am paying so much money out of pocket for this surgery and now i feel like such a failure...i know that one bagel is not gonna undo 10 days worth of work but still i was unable to do battle and win..and it didnt help that i was watching "man vs food" either. that was probably my trigger right there. why didnt i just go to sleep when i first had the food craving... i cant go back but i guess i can start over as some say... may tomorrow be a better day...

Give yourself a break, honey- it was a bagel and not a measure of your self worth or of your future success with banding.

We have the banding done because we have a problem with eating, right? If we could "win the battle with food" with willpower alone we wouldn't need medical intervention. Don't make it a battle; let it be a learning process and don't spend a lot of time beating yourself up over each error. Diets suck, plain and simple. The band and the process of adjusting yourself to it will help you develop a new and positive way to deal with food.

You'll be just fine.

It is a learning experience, stop beating yourself up and move on. Today is a new day, stick with the pre-op for the rest of the duration and you will be fine. If you feel the need to cheat, make a better cheat choice that isn't high in carb, the purpose of the pre-op is to help purge the carbs and excess glycogen from your system!

Stop beating yourself up! It was only a bagel. We all have our slip ups.

Now, you just need to move forward with your pre op.. and make the best of it. You can do this!

Hang in there - for me the pre op diet was MUCH harder than living with the band afterwards.....you can do it, just start afresh and know that quickly it will all be a thing of the past....and you are focusing on the future! Good luck!

The good news is after you are banded and have restriction, the band would have stopped you from eating the bagel. :) I don't even try stuff like that anymore, my stomach Nazi (the band) will kick my ass.

Going to bed is a great coping tactic.

Weight loss journey's are like a war with your own body. Within each war there are many battles. This was just one of them. Just because you don't win this battle doesn't mean you lose the war. There are many battles to come in which I am SURE you will prevail. You just need to keep your head above Water and keep fighting and be strong.:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
