Fluid in... no fluid out

Recommended Posts

Went for my first fill at the hospital. The doctor was able to inject Fluid for my fill, but could not get any back. Since this was this done at the hospital they were able to verify the fill in the band and the upper GI showed I was fairly tight. Has this happened to anyone? I was told if I am too tight they will have to disconnect the port from the tubing and remove the fill :)

That doesn't make sense. Why would they try to take Fluid out after having only just put it in? If it is in the right place then if you are too tight they should be able to draw it out the same way it went in.I have never heard of this before but they do say that you learn something new every day.

It actually sounds like there is a bend in the tubing and that the push pressure can open it but the pull back pressure collapses it....darned if I can think of what this is called. I hope you don't have to have more surgery, that your fill is just right.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
