First fill, no difference

Recommended Posts

Ok, maybe I'm just impatient. I had my first fill on Thursday, December 1. I was able to eat normally the next day with NO problem. In fact, probably more than I normally would (emotional eating, I'm trying to do better with that).

So, I got hungry faster it seems because I ate more and I had no restriction to "stop" me.

They put 1 cc in my 5 cc band...how soon should I pursue another fill? Do I just need to give this time (knowing I need to deal with the emotional eating issue)?

I Got My First Fill On 11/17 1.5 And I Have No Restriction But Me. I Called The Nurse And She Said It Was Normal To Not Feel A Restriction The First Time. I Really Wanted To Lose 13 Pounds By 1/1 So I Can Be Under 200 Pounds. I Am Making Small Portions To Eat And Trying To Eat Healthy, I Was Really Hoping The Fill Would Restrict Me.

4-6 weeks is the usual time period to wait between fills.

Hang in there, you may the one that gains restriction a couple of weeks after the fill.

Just be cautious.

I had my first fill on 11/21 and feel no restriction either...I'm so disappointed. I'm trying to wait until after the 1st of the year to go for my second...but I'd sure like to be able to feel it NOW... I mean, geez, he put 2.2cc's in!

It is so good to come to this forum and read wht others are going through and know that I am not alone. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago - 4cc in a VG band I feel very little difference. I was hoping for so much more. Since my surgery I have lost only a few pounds. I am going in for fill #2 next week. Hopefully it will work better.

I know exactly where you all are coming from. Today is my 4 month bandiversary, and just one week ago, after 6 fills (and a wonderfully agressive fill dr) did I finally get to my sweet spot! I for the first time in my life don't care about food. I kept reading other people say that, and thought "Well they may experience that, but I doubt I ever will." Knowing you are at your sweet spot truly is only something you can experience. People can explain it to you all you want, but I personally didn't believe it would ever happen-or for that matter even comprehend how "sweet" it is, until it happened to me.

My advice is to continue being VERY patient, and if you are still hungry...not restricted...and able to eat regular amounts at each meal-be agressive and ask for those fills! My theory is that time is of the essence (since statistically most people lose the largest amount of their weight in the first 6-12 months). Hang in there :)

Thanks to everyone for their advice, support and sharing. It is so great to know you can come here and get answers. I got the feeling when I got my fill that they were just putting the "standard" 1 cc in and not really looking for what my fill should be based upon the flouroscopy (sp?). It took like 2 seconds to get the fill...my opinion too quick to really assess if it was right for me. Since I have a year of fills included in my SELF-PAY, damn it, I'm gonna push them to get me to that sweet spot!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
