Weight Watchers Broccoli cheese Soup is wonderful. Tastes just like what you would get at TGIFridays.

3 cans chicken broth

1 pound of broccoli (I used the frozen type)

8 oz light Velveeta cheese

Boil the chicken broth and broccoli until broccoli is tender. Then put in 8 oz of the light Velveeta cheese until it is melted. Season to taste.

I pureed mine after it was done, and it was delicious. By far the best soup I've eaten.

I had cream of chicken last night. I had the full fat version. It was okay.

I love having just V 8 juice with some salt and pepper but it gives me heartburn. I also have some V8 Butternut Squash Soup that I want to try. I love butternut squash so I'm hoping this soup will be good.

That sounds good but I don't have any brocolli or velveeta:(

At this point I dont think you could eat enough of any kind of Soup to get more than 800-1000 cals per day. which is probably too low anyway. if you keep it too low you will not lose either.

If you have been on a LOW cal pre-op diet for 2 weeks and now a week or 2 on hardly anything you body is in "starvation mode" and is conserving every cal it can. I was like that and didn't start inching down again till I got the cals up to at least 1500/day.

I looked at it this way, if all I can eat is liquids and puree crap I will be damned if I am going to worry about "fat" that's my outlook anyway. After I am on full program with fills THEN I will worry about exactly what I am eating!

I figure if this is too hard or too much BS, I will not do it long term. So as long as the scale is going down I am a happy camper and I will eat what I want - more or less, LITTLE TINY BITS, but what I want.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

One of my favorites...and easy at that..is a can of refried Beans and a can of chicken broth. Whisk these together while heating...top with some cheese and it is almost a mexican Soup. I also add some salsa and sour cream to it. Very filling!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
