I was told to have liquid tylenol on hand after surgery...

only problem... the adult liquid tylenol that everyone has is only in CHERRY. EEEW. Nothing more icky than cherry flavored liquid medicine. I'm 31 and still can't force myself to take robitussin or anything else cherry flavored. I gag and wretch... which I don't think will be the best way to heal from surgery! I can't help it, it's just so offensive to me...

so... can I just take 6 of the jr's chewable tylenol? That would be 960 mg (instead of 1000 for adults)? Should be the same effect right?

I don't know about that but try looking for a generic equivalent. Walgreens has their brand. If you don't find what you are looking for, I'd be making myself a cocktail of something to kill the cherry sweetness by countering it with lemon tea.

I use the Jr. strength (double dose) ibuprophen for headaches. It is an NSAID, so don't get in the habit of using it often. I think in the liquid and chewable forms it is not as risky as adult forms of NSAIDS.

I'll double check with my Dr after surgery on Friday. I just know myself and even the smell of cherry medicine is enough to make me yak. I don't want to be doing things that are likely to make me throw up while I'm healing... or ever really!

3 days!!! holy smokes!

You could also talk with the pharmacist. I do it all the time when I am buying over the counter stuff to make sure it won't interact with the Meds I am taking.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
