Congratulations on your weight loss. I think it's great you recongnized where you went wrong and gain the weight and got it right back off. I'm looking forward to hopefully joining the loser bench with you.

Hi photoman

My band joined me on June 10 so I am almost your band twin. What an amazing journey. The band forces us to learn and explore ourselves doesnt it. I have learnt more about myself, my eating patterns and my life really in the last 2 months than the 2 years prior to that.

my weight loss has plateaued for now, waiting on my second fill in two weeks (first made no difference)

but I am exploring that in relation to whats happening in my life too.

keep up the fantastic work and good luck

:)

Congrats on your loss, that's awesome!!

Getting back to the gym was the best part for me. I never knew I could love working out as much as I do! :)

thanks all for the encouragement yes it is a journey I am getting used to my fill I am noticing a difference in how can eat now as opposed to pre-fill i am filling up a lot faster and not getting as hungry physically I notice I still get mentally hungry and that is where my challenge lies but in time I will get that under control also.

I suppose if you get technical about it, it's all a "mental thing" most of us are not normal because we have some really screwed up in the head stuff.

Unfortunately the band does not "fix" that other than be a physical reminder not to stuff the face at any particular time.

We truly have to reprogram our minds to not use food for comfort, boredom and any other reason we can think of to eat.

Now it must be eat to live, instead of live to eat!

That seams to be the tough one and the most important for long term success. I think developing good habits will be the start of that change.

IT"S A PROCESS!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
