I am 1 1/2 weeks since my 3rd fill, total of 5.5 cc's in a 10 cc band. I am hungrier now than I was before!!!! I know I have restriction still because I'm having to chew very very carefully now to not have a stuck episode. But, where I was satisfied for about 3 hours after I ate, I now am hungry within an hour!!!! I'm going backwards, so wth????

I'm so very frustrated, I can't BEGIN to tell you!!!!

So why could this possibly be?!?!?

I have 5.5ccs in my band too. Just a question, what kind of food are you eating? I find that if I eat Protein and "solid" food, then I am not too hungry but if I eat softer food...I get hungrier sooner. Not much help I know.....I'm sorry. Are you still losing?

I am eating high Protein, low carb, and no different than I was eating before my last fill. At my last fill, I could eat more than the salad plate portion, that was the only reason they gave me another fill. But now after 1/2 cc more, I can eat more and it's not sustaining me as long.

I went in for my third fill Friday. I was definitely experiencing exactly what you describe, but with 7.25ccs in the band after two fills.

I could eat, but slowly because things were getting stuck. Turns out I eat too slow! The PA told me to make sure I get the Protein and whatever else I can within 20 minutes. Otherwise food is starting to go through the pouch and I'm starting the process over.

I mentioned everything seems to get stuck first bites. She recommended about 2 bites of applesauce or hot tea to "wake up" the band and then start with food.< /p>

I started Saturday morning and seem to have success with this. Although I'm hungry before four hours, its at least closer to 3, 3 1/2 and I can't eat more than a cup of food anymore.

Good luck to you!

That happened with my second fill.... a couple of days after my fill, I was hungry within a couple of hours of eating, and pretty much hungry all day. That lasted two weeks. I hung in there, and eventually, it got so I had to remember to eat.

This third fill.... I don't know, it was .5cc, but it seemed like he took some out, not put any in. Almost a week later... I'm good.

Maybe it will just take some time for your band to settle?

Hang in there, and good luck!

Are you getting all your Protein and other nutrients in? I find that if I skimp on any one type of food I start to get hungry no matter how often I eat. If I make sure to take Vitamins and supplements and keep vegetables and Calcium in my diet I can last the three or more hours between meals.

Yes, I've even upped the amount of Protein I'm eating for this reason. I just don't understand it!

I'm still losing and thought that it was just "head hunger", but it's really not. I'm starving after a couple hours. I'm still losing painstakingly gradually, but this hunger thing is really starting to bother me. Do you think that after I go next week and get another fill, that possibly this will stop?

I'm also wondering what the chances are that they've hit the tubing and I'm possibly losing restriction? Has this happened to anyone like this?

lol...at ny legend...yes regular creamy p-nut butter...swallow a tablespoon...or as much as u can swallow without getting stuck...the pnut butter is thick and takes awhile to leave the pouch...whatever u eat after the pnut butter will lay on top and take even longer to go thru the pouch...and it is normal after a fill not to feel the restriction for a few weeks...until then swallow pnut butter b4 ur regular meal...

Another reason that Peanut Butter might make you feel full is that it's got a lot of fat. Fat slows down gastric emptying (lap band or not). So does Protein, and so does Fiber.

Just remember -- eating a TB of Peanut Butter will add 90 calories and 8 g of fat to your meal. Just be sure to account for it.

I suggest trying to get some healthy fat at each meal- whether it be from a nut butter (and of course natural is healthier), avocado , olive oil or fatty fish. Often, we lap-banders forego as much fat as possible when really we need some to be healthy and satisfied.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
