August Rush in bandland!

Recommended Posts

Hi All! It's 11 months since my surgery! I'm down 47 lbs and although I now know I had unrealistic expectations of myself thinking that at this time I would be a size 6, I'm also really excited that I'm down 47lbs from last year! :) I'm looking at today as a new day. One year ago I started the process, the shakes, the mini meals, etc, etc and I think I need to go back to the basics! I am more active than last year, but I still don't enjoy exercise. I'm thinking of trying yoga, does anyone do it and like it?

I have noticed changes in myself, when I go to the beach or lake, I don't hide myself anymore! I'm still not comfortable just hanging out in a bathing suit, but I will get up from my chair and go in the Water instead of sweating my ass off on the beach! My kids like it!

I'm giving myself a SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely) goal today because the weight has slowed so much, I want to be down to 165 by September 1st, that's 10lbs in 7 weeks, I think that's very realistic, and attainable!

Something else I wanted to post. I went shopping last night and I was able to buy some stuff from Aeropostale and it actually fits:) We've had an Aeropostale store here for 5 years but their sizes only go up to XL so I've never been able to shop there before.

I feel the same way! I just bought a bunch of clothes from Old Navy and typical, I didn't try on at the store and just grabbed everything in an XL, everything is too big! :) I can't even believe it!

I've never tried yoga but I do enjoy walking/ jogging on my treadmill. I never liked it until I started using the Lolo burn app on my iPhone. Lolo burn walks you through each workout and makes it seem easier than it really is. I love it now.

Congrats! 47 pounds is still a huge amount:)

I started this journey with a 5x being a bit snug. I actually tried on an XL just for fun, and the thing fit. I about fell over.

I have to teach myself how to eat again. I keep getting stuck after this last fill. I did lose 5 pounds between Wednesday and today. Had a Protein Drink for Breakfast, and I will have another one for lunch today in hopes that I'm able to eat supper tonight. We are going to my favorite restaurant after picking up my SIL from the airport. She is coming to give me a hand, since I have had nothing but issues since the "surgery". This is getting old.

Well Hello everyone, we are fast coming up on our 1 year surgiversary and I came in to check to see how everyone is doing.

As for myself I'm glad to see that I'm not alone. My weight loss is very slow and I have been at a weight plateau for about 3 months now. Like a lot of you though my inches seem to be going down and I am back into a lot of my dresses that I was wearing the last time I lost a good amount of weight BL (before lapband) .

I had an appt last friday to get another fill. I think that would have been my 4th or 5th not sure but I cancelled it because when I went for a fill at the beginning of June I had not lost anything and my Dr accused me of eating cake and ice cream (slider foods) I was a little miffed because I'm not a sweet eater at all. Why do people including these weight loss surgery Dr's think that if your overweight you must be sitting on the couch eating Bon-Bons with empty ice cream containers around you?

I'm at a point where I can't eat much at all but I do eat the wrong things sometimes like I will eat fried shrimp. I can only eat about 3 or 4 at a time but it would be better to have the shrimp grilled or steamed and I eat late sometimes and I'm not shy about having a drink now and again and I know for a fact that alcohol stalls my losses and bloats me. So I take responsibility for my slow loss.

I plan to make an appt to get my next fill just before my 1 year surgiversary which will be on 8/16. Hoping that I can bite the bullet now and at least lose another 10 lbs before then bringing me to my halfway point.

I'm disappointed because I wanted to be like those star WLS peeps that lose 100lbs in a year but I guess I will be like what the lap band research says that will lose 1/2 their excess weight the first year.

Wishing everyone continued success.

Just counting calories really. I use My Fitness Pal on my phone and log everything I eat. I stay under 1200 calories daily.

I also go through phases of intense workouts. They last 7-10 days and then I wind up slacking off for a week or two.:(

I would kill to be 158 pounds. I might be skin and bones though. Nothing like being tall and having a large frame. 160 is my actual goal weight. I'm not even sure what that would look like on me. The smallest I've been in 13 years was 198, and I was in a size 10. I felt and looked good. Then ended up pregnant with our first. I will get there. Bound and determined to.

Amanda - Congrats on hitting 158. I know that every time that second number changes it is like you get a new lease on life.

Debating on rather or not to get a slight unfill. Pretty much anything I eat is getting stuck. Maybe I need to learn how to eat again. Might give myself another week to see if I make my bites even smaller if that might work. I really don't want to have to get an unfill.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
