tylee72198 10 Posted August 30, 2010 Another thing, I don't know how your doctor is, but mine said NO SOLIDS before your fill. If you have eaten, they will not fill your band.
MelissaAZ 1 Posted August 30, 2010 Another thing, I don't know how your doctor is, but mine said NO SOLIDS before your fill. If you have eaten, they will not fill your band. Thanks so much for the info. The needle is the part that scares me the more...or more so the "poking around searching for my port". I can't feel it with my hand so I have no idea where it is (but I'm not a doctor). My Dr. office never mentioned anything about no solids before a fill, but I was actually wondering about that. Good info to know. Thanks! Melissa
spoiltmom 44 Posted August 30, 2010 Those of you on solids- What are you eating at Breakfast time to get your Protein in? I've never liked eggs and bacon so I've been drinking Protein shakes instead even though my doc said NO liquid calories. What are you guys eating?
Kristy29 0 Posted August 30, 2010 I am sure a Protein Shake is fine. My doctor actually wants us to eat 2 Protein Shakes a day, right up until goal. I am not sure I plan on doing that, but we will see. If I were you, I'd eat a Protein shake with a small piece of fruit. The fruit will help you feel full, since the shake goes right through the band. Another option is greek yogurt, you can add some fruit to it, it's really good and has a lot of protein. tylee72198 10 Posted August 30, 2010 I either drink a shake or eat an Activa yogurt. I'm not a big Breakfast eater.
tylee72198 10 Posted August 30, 2010 Since having my fill, I've already noticed foods that are hard to eat. chicken, Beef, and bread. Bread I can't eat no matter how small the bite. Chicken and beef have to be extra tiny, and I mean teeny tiny. We went out to eat with my parents, and I kept apologizing for taking so long to eat. I felt so bad about taking so long, that I finally quit eating. The good thing though is that the table is usually cleaned off before I'm done eating. Jessydtx 0 Posted August 30, 2010 Hello everyone. I just got banded on 8/27. I have spent all morning reading comments on here so I know what to expect. I am not really hungry yet. I am on Clear Liquids for a week and then full liquids for another week. What type of Vitamins are yall taking?

I also eat Cereal. I let it get mushy and down it goes. What size band do you have?

My3lilaggies 0 Posted August 30, 2010 (edited) AARRGGHHHH!!!! Ok, everyone, I just need a moment to vent...so I'm apologizing in advance. I posted a little over a week ago about the fact that I have been having trouble swallowing (it was just a thread on the post op board). Anyway, I had all the Fluid taken out of my band last Monday, because it was causing really bad "reflux". They put me on the Prevacid disolving tablets and I have been on liquids for the last 5 weeks (two pre op and three post)!!! I am missing chewing food! Anyway, I went back today because the problem has improved very slightly, but not much. I had another swallow and the fluid is still stopping about 2 inches above my band. It does eventually go down, but it sits for a long time before it moves. When the PA saw my barium swallow today he told me that in seeing over 4000+ LAP-BAND® patients he has never seen anyone with anything like it. He had no idea what the problem is, he said the band is placed perfectly, and there is nothing wrong that he can see. So, I have an appointment with the surgeon on Wednesday, and hopefully he has more insight into what is going on. Unfortunatly I have to be on liquids for another week!!!! I'm trying really really hard to stay positive, but shoot this is getting tough. I'm hoping whatever the issue is it either goes away on its own, or it is a really easy fix....but I'm grateful for our little forum that allows me to vent to people who aren't going to say..."I told you you shouldn't have had surgery......" So thanks! Camille Edited August 30, 2010 by My3lilaggies typos :)
sweetkc85 0 Posted August 30, 2010 i have a question. since alot of people can't eat bread, has anyone tried wraps?... i not much of a bread eater but i do love a tuna fish wrap.
scottishmutt 0 Posted August 30, 2010 My surgery was don in TJ, by Dr. Almanza, at the Jerusalem clinic. So far so good, no gas, heartburn, nausea, or vomiting. I did however have a reaction to the nylon stitches, and the original adhesive, they put over them, that is slowly healing but it doesn't look pretty. I am trying to gat an exercise program going, whats working for anyone else, I'm thinking about Curves and/or Zumba. I am afraid of any lifting yet, my port site is really tender and sore. I've only lost 15 lbs. but old habits die hard.
spoiltmom 44 Posted August 30, 2010 I was told tortillas and wraps are fine. I can still eat bread though. I'm hoping my first fill will change that.
