timandmich 3 Posted August 17, 2010 Hey y'all! I was banded on Fri... Doing well! Trying to drink a lot of Water and my shakes... chicken broth......~ I also went back to work today w/no problems. I am definitely ready for mushies on Wed.! I want some refried beans! LOL
tylee72198 10 Posted August 17, 2010 I'm allowed to eat fish, chicken, cooked veggies that are not from a can, and soft fruit. It is much easier to cook, and I'm hoping that the scales start moving. I'm getting frustrated in it either not moving at all or moving in the wrong direction. I know it isn't from me eating to much because I'm still having a hard time eating any thing at all. YUMMYTUMMY 0 Posted August 17, 2010 Hello Hello everyone! Banded yesterday and doing great! I have been reading this board for awhile but now finally feel like "one of the group". I did look at my incisions a few times in the mirror yesterday and ask myself, "what have i done?" but I know it will be worth it, eventually...fingers crossed. My doc rocks compared to some of you other ladies! I am only on Clear Liquids for 2 days, mushies 2 days, soft foods 2 days, and then normal eating. I saw that most of you are still on liquids for 2 weeks...YIKES! I'm so sorry!!! Rest assured he has been doing the band for a long time and even sits on a nationwide board of docs that are implimental in making changes to make the lap bands better and research,,,blah blah blah. Anyway, mucho gas pains...but other than that I love my painkillers, lol! Good luck my new August buddies!!!!
suzmelon 0 Posted August 17, 2010 I was posting on the August Rush forum in the pre-op section, but now that I have my band (got it yesterday!!) I'm gogin to shift over to this one. My surgery was right away in the morning yesterday and I was home by about 4:00. I feel pretty good today but I am extremely shake weak. Does any one have any suggestions? Do you think it's still from the anesthesia or lack of calorie intake. I have to do nothing but clear liquids for a whole week and I am afraid that I am going to be weak that whole time. Debbie03 0 Posted August 17, 2010 hpeters & suzmelon: CONGRATS on your banding!! hpeters: yep, your doc rocks. But thats ok, every doctor is different in their treatment and we will just have to suffer aittle while longer while you get to eat the good stuff. lol suzmelon: just try and get the Protein Shakes down. Its not easy. I couldn't even get 24 oz down at first. It gets easier. Walk and sip on shakes, Water, crystal lite helped me.
suzmelon 0 Posted August 17, 2010 Debbie, I can only have Clear Liquids, are there Protein Shakes that are clear? Susie
Lap2Fab 3 Posted August 17, 2010 I'm getting frustrated in it either not moving at all or moving in the wrong direction. I know it isn't from me eating to much because I'm still having a hard time eating any thing at all. That may be why you are not losing Tylee. I remember a week or so ago someone posted that your body goes into starvation mode under 800 calories. Can you drink more water/crystal light to flush your system? Are you having regular bm now? I was really frustrated when post op I weighed 5.5 lbs more, but it has come off and some more. Someone had suggested I get more calories in, and it definitely worked! Debbie03 0 Posted August 17, 2010 suzmelon: Its like a slimfast drink. I'm not sure if it is considered Clear Liquids but my doc says drink them cuz they are high in Protein. You might want to ask your doctors office if you can drink them. It is very filling and satisfying at this point because you can't eat anything. GOOD LUCK! Lap2Fab 3 Posted August 17, 2010 I just had to share with everyone...I'm in Onderland!!! I can't even believe it! I'm so excited that the scale is moving now! I think it has helped that I'm moving more too and actually eating some mushy food has really helped me mentally and emotionally. My DH and the kids had football practice last night and came home with Italian sandwiches (some of you call them hoagies...ham, cheese, Tomato, onions, green peppers, pickles, greek olives and oil on a sub roll), they are my FAVORITE thing to eat in the summer besides lobster and I had to leave the room, I just couldn't watch them! I know I'll be able to eat them again, just a much smaller portion and probably without the bread...oh yeah...that's called a salad!

Someone had suggested I get more calories in, and it definitely worked! I'm almost positive that is my problem. I've been keeping track over the last week, and I'm only averaging around 600 - 700 calories a day. Yesterday, I made it to nearly 900, and I actually got in my 80 grams of Protein. I also upped how much I was drinking. Hope this helps because it is very frustrating to know that you aren't eating, but you still aren't losing any weight. Once it figures out that you are still going to feed it, I bet you'll see a quick drop to make up for these days that you aren't losing! That's what happened with me, I've lost almost 9 lbs in the past 3 days but I'm sure it's because my body finally is figuring it out (and it's weight that I mostly had gained after surgery)

I was thinking the same thing!! :frown: That is one of my favorites too. My DH has been so sensitive about what he is eating in front of me. I appreciate it but it would be nice to just smell regular food!
Lap2Fab 3 Posted August 17, 2010 I've told them not to be sensitive to what they eat in front of me, because they have to eat...and with the exception of my husband...they are all healthy! Just because I have issues with food... I've decided that I'm going to football practice with them tonight, I can walk the track while they are at practice! I'm shocked by my own behavior! Normally, I would care what other people thought of me...but I don't...I just want that scale to keep on moving!
