Body shape changes after pregnancy and weight loss

Before having kids I was thin (ish). The kind of thin with a good upper body, six-pack abs, quite mediocre legs and a fat rear. After having kids I've become an "apple pear", that is, someone with fat hips AND a fat stomach. My question is, after losing weight do you eventually tend to go back to your original (albeit older and saggier) shape, or am I stuck with this fat midsection for good?

I was always pear shaped and I went back to having a slim middle, although I didnt know that until after weight loss, lol. Well, really I guess I did, I did go back to my normal shape and I've never had a really big stomach.

However, if you've developed a fat middle, there's a good chance you've got muscle separation after your pregancy.

I was extremely lucky, I'm tall, but only had 7 or 8lb so I didnt have stretch marks or damaged muscles.

If you exercise you go back to regular shape with some extra skin, at least that is what I did.

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
