eslmn1 0 Posted August 7, 2010 I got banded on Sep 3rd of '09 and have lost 81Lbs (including 2 week pre-op diet). Most of the weight loss was in the first 3-4 months. As I have gotten more and more restriction, I have had to deal with what I hear people on this site call PBing (my Dr calls it throwing up...says not to kid myself). It seems like I have intolerances to almost everything a bandster could have an intolerance to. I am limited to a few select foods.. eggs (too early and I throw up), chili, dark meat chicken with some sort of sauce or gravy, tuna or salmon sashimi, green Beans that are overcooked and a few more. Due to the fact that throwing up has been an almost daily occurrence, I have been eating the one food that seems to be the "evil temptation"---ICE CREAM! I eat it daily and it is probably the reason why I have leveled off in my weight loss. Is anyone else having a similar experience with food intolerances and throwing up? (any input would be appreciated) How about a struggle with ice cream? I am thrilled about having the band and even though I am a year out, I am still pretty consumed by it. So, I will take this struggle vs what I had in the past any day. (I am 35Lbs away from my goal weight)

Mimilou2004 13 Posted August 7, 2010 Sweetie, you are overfilled and need a little unfill, even though you think you can lose wt too tight, it is a struggle to keep the food down that helps keep you full. I know of what I speak as I am in the same position and am going in as soon as I can get an appt. Best wishes, Mimi
Breeezie 0 Posted August 9, 2010 I will have been banded three years in october and I had a very similar situation about a year ago. Me and ice cream became the best of friends. I would generally eat a few bites of my dinner and the devour a large bowl of ice cream. Also things I had been able to eat became difficult and I started getting reflux at night. This is when I searched the internet for an answer and found this site. Seeing people with reflux that turned out the be slipped bands sent me into a panic and off to see my surgeon. He calmly told me I was likely just a little tight and explained how many people who are banded can, and do, have daily/weekly/monthly/yearly restriction cycles. So a slight unfill sorted everything out, back to healthy eating and weightloss. A few months later I went back and was filled to my previous level. *Fast foward a year* And about a month ago (the start of our winter) my reflux was back and we're seeing a pattern - my band doesn't like the cold (My doctor tells me im in the minority with this - Lucky me ) -- Probably too much story but I think it's interesting to know. Long story short an unfill isn't always a bad thing - it can be the best thing for you. Being too tight isn't fun or healthy. You dont need to struggle or accept that struggle is part of it all, we did this to make out lives better, healthier, happier. As for ice cream addiction I weined myself off. Start with smaller portions, then not everyday, then not everyweek, until you are comfortable just having a small portion every once in a while. You could even try going from ice cream to frozen yogurt/yogurt/anything with less bad stuff. Good Luck
eslmn1 0 Posted August 12, 2010 Thanks all. I had had 1/2 CC taken out on Tuesday and for the most part the problem has gone away. I went and had a meal after the unfil and kept it down. That was the first time that I didnt throw up my Breakfast in months. I pushed the envelope later in the day and tried to eat some toast. I guess certain food intolerances still exist (Bread, Rice and Pasta). I have been more hungry than I am used to and gained a LB but, that could be time of day etc... I appreciate the input! Janel76 0 Posted August 15, 2010 I had a fill in May 2010 and have felt pretty good with the amount that I was at until this past 2 weeks. I had eaten and had a bad experience and since then I cant stop vomiting anytime I try to eat. I do so so with slimfast it still takes forever to drink it because even it feels like it is getting stuck. What can I do any advice? I didnt want to have an unfill if I was doing so well prior to my bad experience.
