AmberK 5 Posted August 7, 2010 I've vomited several times today- earlier when I took one bite too much of Jello and then just now. Ive sipped on Water and chicken broth this evening but havent had that much and I just got really nauseous and vomited several times. Is this normal?
Nutster_98 0 Posted August 7, 2010 Amber, Naturally your going to be swollen from the trauma of surgery. For the first two days after surgery I didn't hardly touch anything. Felt so bad I did not want to. Make sure you are getting enough Water, you gotta have it. If you can't keep anything down by the third day, I would call the doctor. Keep us posted. reverie 49 Posted August 7, 2010 Stick to warm liquids for a day. You may just be very swollen from surgery. If you're still having issues, its best to call your surgeon for some advice. If he prescribed you anti-nausea pills, those may help. Good luck!
mmmakala 4 Posted August 7, 2010 Hi amber I had the same problem. I had surgery Monday and Wednesday night I found myself vomiting. I called my doctors and they told me as long as I wasn't doing it constantly I was all set. She also told me to go buy some milk of magnesia to get my bowels moving since I hadn't moved them since before surgery, and she said to start my Protein since I wasn't on it but ever since I did all that I had no issues and actually have felt great. Hope you feel better
spoiltmom 44 Posted August 7, 2010 I got banded yesterday. I've felt nauseous a couple of times but for me a cup of warm broth gets rid of it.
AmberK 5 Posted August 7, 2010 I called a friend of mine last night who is a nurse and who also had the surgery about a year ago and she told me its totally normal because of all of the swelling. That made me feel so much better. I was just shocked last night because I had barely sipped on any Water or chicken broth when I got nauseous and threw up. Today I have had a little bit of Water and I made up some carnation sugar free instant Breakfast and have taken a few sips of that and so far so good. Now if I could just rid of this stupid headache. But I havent had pain meds since 8 last night! I might take some liquid tylenol though for the headache.
Rescue3Chick 0 Posted August 8, 2010 VOMITING THAT SOON AFTER POST OP IS VERY DANGEROUS!!!! Call your doctors immediately and ask them to call in an anti-nausea med! My doc sent me home with one. This is very important... VERY!!! Do not let anyone tell you that it is ok to be vomiting immediately following post op!!!!
jalivia2 0 Posted August 8, 2010 I had a similar problem. Turns out I was having reactions to the anesthesia.
