healthyby40 0 Posted August 5, 2010 I'm interested to know who has had the band for a long time and been successful. I met with my surgeon today and he informed me that the national average for band removal (due to complications) is 20%. That's a little shocking to me and now I'm doubting my decision. I don't want to go through all this to have to have the thing removed in a year or two due to complications! I'm stressing a little here. I'm hoping to hear from some folks who are a long time out and have had no complications. Thanks
gatorgal 0 Posted August 6, 2010 I'm 14 months out and have had NO complications. Of course, that's not very long, but so far, so good. I plan to keep this thing a long, long time!

Mariasha 3 Posted August 6, 2010 I don't believe that number is correct. Seems very high to me.
TheUrbanWasteland 0 Posted August 23, 2010 That number is high, considering it is something like 3% in countries who have been doing it a lot longer (aust/nz for example)...
Jodi_620 37 Posted August 23, 2010 The complication rate that I am aware of is 9% overall, most of which are minor and reversible; major complications is less than 1%. I am at 2.5 years with no complications.

Pbandit 0 Posted August 27, 2010 Four years next month for me. No complications and I can assure you the surgeon is wrong about the 20%. If the rate was that high few of us would have been banded.
