 Hey everyone i got banded 8/2/10 am having the worst day of pain, headace and i think am hungry.hav be drinking and all incld sugar free Jello but am still hungry what's up with that? can some one plz help explain

I was really stiff in the morning on day 4 and attributed it to the IV fluids leaving my body.

It could be that or dehydration, Vitamin deficiency, stress, etc...

Are you drinking at least 64 ounces of Water a day?

Have you been told that you can have Protein shakes or yogurt yet?

I was drinking Protein Shakes / Meal Replacements immediately after surgery and never hungry.

It could be that Bandster Hell thing that a few people have but 4 days seems a little early for that.

You're healing. You're hungry bc of your clear liquid diet...that would also explain the headache. I didn't stop hurting until the 5th day...that's when it got better for me.

Hang in there and make sure you are getting enough liquids in, the headache might be bc of dehydration...my doc had me drinking 64 oz of Fluid daily...and really still does!

Be prepared from now for the next 3-4 weeks its gonna be what we call "Bandster Hell" where you are hungry- and you will feel like you can eat whatever you want...but you have to remember that you are healing and NOT to push the limits! In 6 months, this healing period will seem like a distant memory.

What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
