Hi everyone. I am a 30 year old mom of two kids. I have been battling my weight all of my life and I'm tired of going up and down and the emotional and physical toll isn't taking on my body. My BMI is right on 40 so I am very close to the insurance cut off. I originally had an appointment with the nutritionist Sept 24th, but I called today and there was an opening for today at 3:30. I am nervous and excited to start the process. I hope to have the surgery right before Christmas, as it will take that long for everything to get done. Nice to meet you all and I enjoy reading everyone's success and challenges.

don't stand too tall when they measure your height, the shorter you are the higher your bmi will be on the paperwork

That's what I did to get my BMI of 40.2 so hopefully they don't measure my height again, just my weight!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
