Just starting this amazing (but seemingly long) process

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm a divorced, 35 year old Mom of 2 daughters. I have been battling my weight for nearly 15 years and have decided to take charge. Like most of you, I'm exhausted. Mentally, emotionally and physically...

I've been researching this process for a few weeks now and will be attending a seminar on the 16th of this month. My first appointment is September 1 and I'm so anxious already. I've spoken with my insurance company and believe I'm extremely borderline. This is a true concern but I'm still hopeful.

This website and community is exactly what I've been searching for the past few days so I'm so glad to have found you all!

Feel free to contact me if your story is similar as I'd love to have a "buddy" throughout this journey!

I've done the seminar and my first appointment and now i have an appointment with the RN's and Dr's on the 30th of this month! So I am pretty close to where you are!

I am also worried because I am borderline...I feel like I will get through but it is really my only concern! I've done loads of research and I am ready for this journey!

I'm 31, no kids, and really excited about actually being in control for more then 4-5 months at a time! I am done with working so hard, seeing results, and then failing again!!

Here's to us!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
