honk 780 Posted August 4, 2010 I don't mean to be a downer but you might find it hard to find a surgeon who will operate on a 16 year old. One you are not of age and two it's hard to determine if you are still growing. I would go to the manufacturer's website of both Lap and Realize bands look for local surgeons and see if they treat minors.
Melinco 1 Posted August 4, 2010 I have heard of a couple of surgeons doing the lap band procedure on teenagers. They are located in New York City and Denver CO. Not sure what the criteria are to get approved to do it as a teen. I'd suggest working with your primary care doctor. What do your parents think about this? showgurls 0 Posted September 27, 2010 Hey I also live in Kennesaw and I am a teacher in Cobb. Anyway, I know how ya a feel I have been there at 15. First gather all the information you can on the surgery. 2nd present the idea to your parents and show them the research you have done. 3rd find a surgeon that’s willing to work on a young patient. My surgeon was Dr. Duncan in Atlanta. He would be a great person to speak with. However listen to me, this surgery I not a easy fix. It is not a magic bean. It takes work. You have to reprogram your thinking and be willing to do the work. Let me know how it goes. Please email me. Hope you had a great fall break. J
