.... and I am at home still in my hospital gown. Besides being banded - Dr. Ren discovered and fixed a stomach hernia  I can't find a comfortable place to lay or sleep or sit or stand. ughhhhh I am feeling very discouraged right now. Please tell me it gets better.

it will get better!! my first two *weeks* were hell (of course everyone is different), but after that it was like i never had surgery. trying to sleepy comfy and experiencing intense nausea are what bothered me most. i think about the 3rd day i was able to prop pillows under my tummy and rest on my side - that helped a lot with the comfort level.

you just got out of surgery though, so the discomfort is totally normal. if you can get friends/fam to help you out, do it, but don't lose hope because it will get easier *bol*

It gets SOOOO much better. I am almost a month out and I feel great. I have so much energy and I am really glad I made this decision. Just try not to get discouraged and you will make it through. The next few weeks will be hard and just remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. Once you get through the discomfort stage and the liquid stage you will feel so much better. I hope this helps!!!!

it IS going to get better! The first few days are miserable to get through, but you will be on the other side of this in no time! I slept in a reclining chair for the first few days, since I could not lay down in my own bed.

My best advise - drink lots of Water, take your prescribed pain meds, and walk walk walk! Your body needs to rehydrate after the sugery, and the water does make you feel better. Take the pain meds when you need them - no one likes to be in pain! Walking, moving your body, will get the leftover gas (from the surgery) to move out, and it also gets your muscles and joints going again, since we are so used to moving!

I wish you good things on this journey!

You were me last week! I slept on the couch the first few nights because it was much more comfortable to sleep sitting up with my legs on my ottoman. I too had a discovered hernia and so I think that adds to the pain, especially with breathing. As each day passes, you will feel so much better!

YES YES YES it does get better. I am two weeks post op and it’s as if I never had it done. Well besides the restriction. I was regretting my decision 5 days post-op because I wasn’t feeling like myself. I had a really bad day that day..Walk Walk Walk that’s what helped me. The Doc prescribed me Vicodin and it made me nauseous so I stopped taking it and felt much better. Good Luck and you will start to feel better No Doubt!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
