Weight loss 22lbs

Today was my 6th adjustment and I FINALLY have really wicked restriction. Ok, so I could drink the Water at my doctors office, but when I stopped by to get an iced coffee with skim milk, it wanted (and did) come back up.

I just drank a sip of water and it didn't go down easy, but it was tolerable. Do you think I have to get unfilled? I really don't want to. My doc only lets me have Clear liquids today and "mushy" stuff tomorrow. I really want this to start working so I'm willing to go through a little "rough patch".

All thoughts are kindly appreciated!!

Susan:smile:

As long as you can get some liquid down, I wouldn't wait more than 24 hours to contact your Dr. Giving yourself that time for the swelling to go down.

Not being able to keep liquids down is considered a medical emergency at my Dr.s office. It's important to be honest about your restriction.

It doesn't do you any good to be skinny if you blow out your kidneys on the way.

Listen to your body and do what's best for it.

Hope it's what you wanted/needed to hear.

I agree that if you can tolerate liquids you have time to see if it is band fill stomach swelling or over restriction.

Don't try to be a hero if you are barfing your liquids or just can't drink them. You may need to stay on liquids a couple of days.

I had the exact same thing happen, I did need an unfill, I was so sore from everything coming back up that it wasnt worth it: plus, you could put yourself in a position of having a slip.

Thank you so much. Probably not what I wanted to hear, but what I needed to hear. If I can't keep liquids down tonight; I'll call them first thing in the morning.

Y'all are so kind with your responses; thanks again.

How much did they put in? I had a fill once that was too much and they took out .1 cc (yes, one-tenth of a cc) and I was much better. So don't panic, an unfill doesn't have to mean taking out the whole fill, but the longer you wait and the more dehydrated you get the more they will have to take out. Good luck.

Try drinking your liquids warm..tea, coffee etc. Warm liquids seem to relax things and when I cannot keep anything else down it works for me. If you cannot even keep the warm liquids down then I would be worried. The more things come up the more swelling will occur. It doesnt take long to get dehydrated.

Several months ago I had my 4th fill of 1 cc which brought me to 6.5 cc in a 10 cc band. Like you I was able to swallow the Water at my doctor's office... but then a bit later it was difficult to sallow Water without the constant hicuping... This was on a Tuesday and I toughed it out drinking Protein shakes until Friday night when I tried to eat some Soup that got stuck... It was pretty awful and I managed to bring it back up... which made it even tighter.

I called my doctor at 8am on the Saturday morning and was in his office by 11am where he took out 2 cc. I was disappointed that he wanted to remove 2 cc's but he insisted and told me to return in a month. I did and they put back 1 cc and then a few weeks ago they put in .5 cc which has me at 6 now and I have great restriction.

Your body will tell you... but if you cannot swallow simple liquids within 2 days then you probably need an unfill.
