Losing weight only during monthly cycle.

Recommended Posts

Not to sound gross or anything, but we are all grown-ups here. How may of you women only lose weight during your cycle. I can do the same thing all month long and not lose an ounce. I will actually fluctuate up a pound or two until my next cycle. I will then lose on average 5#. I know I should not complain because 5# a month is good, but I just don't understand. Anyone in the same boat as me?

I'm exactly the same way!! It's so frustrating to do everything right, but see nothing until the week after my period. I asked my Dr. and he said it's pretty normal. When I first was losing I lost for the 2 weeks after, but now I'm down to a week - about 5 lbs or so. I'm with you, 5 lbs a month at this point is still great, but its annoying to see the scale bounce for weeks on end

Patience is definitely a virtue when it comes to weight loss!

My weight loss seems to also be related to my cycle - week of my period - 4-6 pound loss - the week before and after 1 pound and 2 weeks post period 2 pounds.

Me too! I stay the same all month then just when my period starts I dump about 3-5lbs in a day or two. It's frustrating that the body waits until last minute to catch up for a months worth of work.

I am lucky enough to have the same problem too!!!! I was wondering if it is due to not taking birth control pills for that week. It is so aggrevating to not lose anything for 3 weeks and have to wait that long for a few pounds to drop off. UGGGGHHHH:mad:

OMG! I'm not the only one! Sometimes it's so hard to stay motivated when the scale doesn't move ALL FREAKIN' MONTH. Obviously a hormonal thing, but glad to know I'm just like some of you others!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
