Stitches, Staples or Glue?

Recommended Posts

How were you closed up? If you had stitches or staples did they hurt coming out?

I am 11 days post op and I had glue, so I am not sure about the stitches or staples but I have had breast reduction surgery back in 2007 and had stitches and the removal wasn't bad at all. Good luck!

Hi,

I'm 13 days post op and I have glue on my incisions.

I had glue, also. And just like a previous poster, I had BR surgery with stitches and there was no pain when they were taken out.

I'm glued...have had both stitches and staples prior...it does not hurt to have either removed!

I had staples. One incision got infected and it hurt a lot to remove the staples, but the others were easy - no pain.

I had stitches and glue on my incisions. It did not bother me at all when my dr. removed my stitches...just a little sting on a couple of them.

I have stitches.... and my doctor doesn't plan to see me again or remove them until the 18th.... that's 20 days post surgery. Should I worry?

*off topic..... how do I get my fancy new weight ticker to display with each post?

Glue, and I wished he'd done stitches. I have just a single incision through my belly button. It closed 6 weeks post op, but popped back open again a week later from too much activity. That was 13 weeks ago, and I still have an opening the size of a large needle. No infection, no problems, just constant leakage of fluids. The Dr said it happens to some, and Im just one of the "lucky" people to experience it. Yay...

I had stitches...but they dissolved on their own. I guess that's the best of both worlds!

I had the dissolving sutures and glue and then steri-strips over that which came off on their own within 2 weeks. I had my first fill yesterday and the skin below the port incision is still numb so I didn't feel a thing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
