Horrible Arm Flab!!!

Recommended Posts

So I have lost about 35lbs so far and I went from size 16 to a size 12 and my body is starting to look decent but my arms are HUGE!!!!!! and so flabby underneath and I hate them. What is the fastest way to tone up the triceps, we go on vacation in two weeks and I am disgusted by my arms!!! Any suggestions?

Push-ups are a great way to help the triceps. I have lost 80 and my arms are horrible. I just started using my kettlebell to do tricep exercises. Man, that sucker is heavy. I have 30 to 40 more to lose and I keep reading that we need to wait one-year before really freaking out on flab, that a lot of may go away.

Google "tricep exercises" to get some ideas. I guess it depends on age, genes and skin condition but I can say that though I have excercised regularly for the past two years and a half years with a strong focus on problem areas, the excercise did develop nice muscle tone and pulled in the skin a bit but my arm skin never really snapped back. Maybe not what you wanted to hear but just my reality.

I agree with the push ups, I have been doing a cross training program that includes push ups and I have really seen a difference in my arms. If you do them 3 days a week, every other day for 3 times then rest 2 days increasing the number of push ups each day and you might as well include other exercises while you are doing them. For example:

Monday --5 push ups, 5 sit ups, 5 squats repeat 3 times.

Wednesday--7 push ups, 7 sit ups, 7 squats repeat 3 times.

Friday--10 push ups, 10 sit ups, 10 squats repeat 3 times.

Rest 2 days.

Monday --5 push ups, 5 sit ups, 5 squats repeat 5 times.

Wednesday--7 push ups, 7 sit ups, 7 squats repeat 5 times.

Friday--10 push ups, 10 sit ups, 10 squats repeat 5 times.

Rest 2 days.

Monday --7 push ups, 7 sit ups, 7 squats repeat 5 times.

Wednesday--10 push ups, 10 sit ups, 10 squats repeat 5 times.

Friday--15 push ups, 15 sit ups, 15 squats repeat 5 times.

Rest 2 days.

One week increase the number of exercises and the next week increase the number of sets. If you want to make this a true cross training, either run or jump rope 2 min in between sets and increasing the running time each week.

I hope this helps.

My Reality too:tongue:. I have worked w/trainer for the last 2 yrs - I have great mucles in my arms - Kelly Rippa arms - if it wasn't for the bat wings.. ;o)

I use to focus on them (negatively) -now I don't - it is what is is - the bat wings aren't going to kill me - but the fat was - My badge of honor in a way..

Hopefully yours spring back !!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
