What is your favorite non carbonated beverage?

Recommended Posts

Iced tea with a bit of frozen fruit for ice cubes, and ice Water with cucumber. Used to love Crystal Light pre-surgery, but now it gives me crazy indigestion.

Soy and almond milk, especially the vanilla and chocolate flavors, are also very yummy, and good for mixing Protein powders if you use them.

Crystal Light's pomegranate lemonade is so good, and I'm not a fan of artificial sweetners of any kind.

Had surgery July 1st and my last Diet Pepsi was June 30! I have not had a carbonated drink until yesterday, and I drank Diet Orange Sunkist and my tummy didn't care for it very much. Before I had the Sunkist I took a drink of Diet Pepsi and I really didn't care for it. As for other things I have had Water, vita rain, and the crystal light packages as well.

I LOVE iced tea. I buy the unsweetened kind and use splenda. Crystal light is good too.

I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE Sobe drinks..... there is the LifeWater, and and the Sobe LEAN. (Regular Sobe drinks have calories!)

I hate Water, but when it is 100 degrees outside, it goes down with less complaint. I usually buy bottled Water or the gallon jugs though because I can take the chemicals in the tap water.

And yes, I am a recovering Diet Coke addict. I have not had a Diet Coke for almost a year and there are still days when I would give anything to have a good, cold Diet COke.

I am also a recovering coke zero junky. I gave it up 3 weeks ago.

I drink fuze , or sobe ....mmm good. I also drink a ton of water.

I drink Water, Crystal Light, Minute Maid Lemonade (I'll have to try the Spenda-sweetened strawberries in it - that's sounds wonderful), and also Ocean Spray Diet Cranberry, Diet Grape, or Diet Blueberry juice.

I was also a 25-year Diet Coke fanatic and gave it up a couple of weeks before surgery. I don't miss it now, but occasionally I'll miss a real Coke on a hot, humid day when I've been exercising. The one time I tried it, I had horrible heartburn. So, the memory will have to do.

I'm not a Water lover, but do drink several glasses a day. I guess I don't miss soft drinks as much as I miss the convenience of a can. The Minute Maid comes in handy.

I love Milo's sweet tea made with Splenda (so obvs no calorie, no carbs).

I also really really like Powerade Zero.

Crystal Light's pomegranate cherry is good too-- though I usually "half" the packet in a bottle of Water or it's too much for me.

I am so addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper that a big part of my pre-op is weaning myself from that.

blink.gif Does anyone drink any Arnold Palmer?

My doc told me (since im on first stage of liquids) to look for fruit juices that contain less then 100 calories per 8oz of juice.

I'm not much of a plain simple Water drinker... but I do drink about 2 or 3 16oz bottle of Water right now and the rest is crystal light or fruit juices like apple juice (Motts for tots) hahaha

I am about 3 months post surgery and my doctor has given me the ok to drink diet coke. I also am a diet coke addict. I have added it back to my diet and It doesn't bother me as long as I let it sit a few minutes. Are there health reasons not to drink it? (besides the carbonation bothering your stomach?) Everyone seems like giving it up is a good thing so I was wondering what your thoughts were about the side effects. Thanks!

I am die hard diet Coke fanatic! I need to break that habit right now! So that is it not so hard after my surgery.

Please share what your favorite non-carbonated beverage is! I love variety and hope to find something I like equally as well as my Diet Coke!

Thanks for your input!

For me it is mainly the Crystal Light mixes. I also use some of the Walmart brand of drink mixes that are like Crystal Light. LOVE the lemonade, I drink it daily and I also like the ruby red grapefruit flavor, the Peach and the Peach Iced tea. I drink quite a bit of hot tea as well, mostly either chai blends or other spice type blends and the honey chamomile from Celestial Seasonings is very good. My favorite hot tea of all time though is Sweet Thai from Yogi teas, the stuff of the Gods when combined with splenda and fat free cremora. lol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
