Questioin-3 month mark on August 4th-38 lbs down?!?!?

Recommended Posts

:confused:I have a question..had my surger 5/4/10, am 38 lbs down and have had 2 fills totaling 7 cc's in a 11 cc band...should I be losing more? I only have big restriction some of the time. Will this change once I get to my sweet spot? been eating lots of Protein and doing what i am supposed to do, but still feel like sometimes I can eat more than the recommended amount.

Any suggestions?

Your weightloss is awsome! It does sound like you could use a small fill. I would talk to your doc. about it. Keep up the good work!

That is awesome that is like 3 lbs a week or almost 1/2lb a day. Totally awesome. You have to consider also that a good 3-6 weeks you were recovering from the surgery. How far out did you have your first fill? Keep up the good work. I think you are doing fantastic.

Great loss and congrats on your progress! Restriction is a "your mileage may vary" topic, as so many with the band are.

I'm very tight in the morning, but by evening have to be careful because I could have easily fall off the wagon a lot of days. I wouldn't want my band any tighter because it would be to the point that fluids would be difficult in the morning. I just have to watch my energy balance and eat accordingly - the band sure helps that though!

Good luck and stay focused!

Brad

Mimik,

You're doing beautifully on the weight loss! From personal experience, you can still feel like you can eat more than the recommended amount. This is where our part of the job comes in. We have to 'choose' to put down the fork even when our belly and eyes say "more".

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
