Hey all...I have written several times on here...my question is when I eat something that goes down very rough...for a little while after that i feel like i have a ball in my throat...does anyone else get that feeling? I do not want to stretch my pouch and dont know what that is...is it just from something going down hard...a lot of what i eat does go down pretty rough...but i dont think i am chewing good enough...i am still learning that thru trial and error...i would like anyone's input...thanks and everyone keep up the great work....:(

My band got pretty tight when I got pregnant and I had to have it unfilled slightly. I had the same feelings that you did. If it's hard for me to eat, that's too much restriction for me. I even had issues with stew.

Proper restriction for me was feeling full after eating properly, slowly and chewing well, with only about 1 1/2 cups of food. The only time I ever felt stuck was when I took too big of a bite of something or didnt chew well enough. I have only had 3 stuck episodes where I actually got sick.

If you're having that rough of a time eating it may be time for you to have a slight unfill. Eating isn't supposed to be a chore.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
