Taking in air any suggestions

Recommended Posts

My Dr recently told me that I was taking in air when I drank or sometimes eat. I hear this noise when I drink especially. He told me that people with bands have this problem and to try tilting my head back when drinking. This doesn't seem to work and was wondering if you have any suggestions or anybody else seem to have this problem. I've never had this problem before but I've just had a slight unfill and am right at my sweet spot. This feeling is a little uncomfortable and doesn't seem to go away for quite a while.

Hey Moma- I was just talking to my doc about this yesterday actually. I asked him about using straws and he told me that some people take too much air in when they drink because they gulp. He said the key is sipping....

(and FYI he said it was fine to use a straw as long as I sipped rather than gulped)

I have this problem too!!! I was banded on June 30 and I am noticing the sounds and air when I drink and eat. Lately I notice 30-45 mins after I eat my left shoulder starts hurting. It is very uncomfortable.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
