Hello fellow August Rushers,

Well, I went for my first checkup today. The Dr. told me to "keep on keeping on", for four more weeks. So I'm going to have to be very creative with coming up with some low carb Soups. Tonight I'm going to try tallapia, cooked, blended, with some tarter sauce, and some heavy cream.Season and searve! I can't live on eggs and cottage cheese alone. I have been losing a couple pounds a day, so the low carbing is working.Yeah I lost 50 pounds my last diet, fast! So I know I'm going to be dumping pounds. I want to loose 20 pounds, thats 5 pounds a week before I see the "Doc" again. Oh well thats all for now!

Peace Out

Kelly:wink:

P.S. any recipe ideas (low-carb)out there?

AMARIS......how much did you loose on your pre-op diet? Just curious.

Right at 20 pounds -- maybe a little over. I started the pre-op diet on 13 July and my surgery date was 03 August. And I cheated three times; one time involved several Cookies, so it was pretty bad!

Thanks! :) It went really well....I'm feeling good...except for gas pains in my back....but that was to be expected, right? I'm just hoping they go away soon!!

But the surgery went great....I did have a hernia that needed to be fixed as well....but I think my Dr. said that 50% of the patients who get the band end up having to have a hiatal hernia fixed as well. I asked him again this morning....b/c I was really groggy yesterday in the recovery room when I thought I heard that that had been done.

I'm home now....and just drinking Water & apple juice. I'm not really hungry at ALL....tomorrow I start my Protein - 2 week liquid post-op diet. I think with the practice from the 2 week prior to the surgery, I'll do just fine. We'll see! :wink2:

Anyway, I'm happy that it was over. I was kind of nervous...and as I was in the OR, I quickly thought to myself, "Is this what you really want to do???" hahaha....a little late, right? I think I was just freaked out by all of the apparatus in the cold OR!

Anyway, I"m glad to be be done...and home....and onto my road to recovery. :)

Jen, I am so happy that it went good for you, and your feeling good :)) My diet after surgery is a little different from yours it sounds like. I am on a stage three diet when I come home, which means protien shakes, yogurt, whipped cottage cheese, apple sauce, pudding...things like that. Funny to say but I am actually looking forward to stage four when I can eat scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes!! LOL the things ya crave when ya on a liquid diet LOL

Keep us posted and I am glad your doing good :))

Being banded on the 17th....starting to get a little nervous now. Somehow today being my last day of work until the 25th makes it all a little more real...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
